Mossbank’s many events and attractions draw visitors from all over Western Canada and beyond every year. The district’s colourful history provides the background for tours related to the North West Mounted Police’s March West, the British Commonwealth Air Training Plan Base and the 1957 Debate between Tommy Douglas and Ross Thatcher.
Other tours feature nearby Old Wives Lake, which as a national bird sanctuary provides a bird watcher’s paradise.
Many local events are highlighted at the Celebration of Rural History and Culture, which takes place every June. This festival features historical re-enactments, a concert by rural performers and competitions in such categories as farm skills, jam making, pie making, original fashion design, classic cars and model air plane flying. Rich in history, Mossbank’s features a musuem and a authetic blacksmith shop, that is a provincial heritage site. The Ambroz Blacksmith Shop, was one of the last businesses of this type to operate in Western Canada. Every July 1 the Museum hosts Blacksmith Days where modern blacksmiths provide demonstrations. In August every year the Museum holds Apple Pie Days. Mouth watering fresh home-made pies and other country fair are available for purchase -so come early because it sells out every year!
Summer also features ‘The Mossbank Lazy Day Farmers Markets’ Saturdays in August. The market starts at 10 am, so everyone can sleep in and still have a chance to enjoy homemade breads, cinnamon buns, farm fresh produce, and unique local artisan products. The market attracts people from far and wide.
Every fall, Mossbank’s great waterfowl hunting area attracts hunters from all over North America. They are drawn by the community’s position on the major routes of migratory birds - not to mention the unbeatable small-town hospitality.
Visitors to the Mossbank district have many options when looking for overnight accommodations. This includes a full-service RV park, beds and breakfasts, a local hotel, as well as several hotels a short drive from town.
